Out With The Old…

“The beginnings and endings of all human undertakings are untidy…” – John Galsworthy

Out with the old and (soon to be) in with the new! We have officially started demolition on our house and to say it is “untidy” would be an understatement. It’s messy, chaotic, and definitely a wild ride already!

We are currently living in an 8′ x 39′ travel trailer on the property with two adults, a 2 year old, and a 6 month old. We’re crazy, I know, but so far we are making it work! Ask me again in 6 months how I’m doing with our living situation…

It’s amazing how something that took numerous months to construct takes just weeks to tear down. Over the last 2 weeks we’ve made a lot of progress demolishing the old modular home on our property. Tearing off the roof, taking out windows and doors, knocking down walls, and removing flooring as fast as we can! We now have a pile of trash almost as high as the house ready to be taken to the dump.

In a day or two we will have all the walls down and start work on taking out the floor structure and steel beams underneath. In about a week we will be entirely out with the old and ready for the new house construction to start!

Here’s a look at the project as we’ve progressed through the demolition.

It may be an untidy undertaking, but what an adventure it will be! Stay tuned for more updates as we go out with the old during demolition and in with the new construction of our custom home.
